Killed on Action

From our research We have located one officer and 11 other ranks, the entry in the war dairy records 1 officer and 11 other ranks and the letter from the Major of the 529th records 1 officer and 12 NCO's and sappers.

There is one soldier in a marked grave in Monchy British Cemetery and two soldiers in marked graves at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez.
Monchy Cemetery contains 58 unidentified soldiers and Cabaret-Rouge 4468 unidentified soldiers.

Because no identifiable remains were recovered Grandad's name is inscribed on panel 1 of the Arras Memorial along with the remaining 9 soldiers.

The memorial on the left was erected in Holy Trinity Church Hull in memory of the officers, non commissioned officers and men of the East Riding Field Companies who fell in the Great War 1914 to 1918.
